These particles are in a state known as plasma there are positive Iv charged ions and negatively charged electrons which are in equal numbers so that the wind as whole electrical- Iy neutral. Most of the ions are hydrogen and hydrogen ion is simply proton. There- fore all of the planets are con- tinually bombarded with pro- tons and electrons The inter- action of these charged part- icles and the intrinsic magnetic fields of planets such as the Earth, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune create the charac- teristic tear- -drop shape of these planets magnetospheres
